مؤتمر طاقة العراق 2019

ألقى سفير الولايات المتحدة في بغداد السيد تولر خطاباً رئيسياً في مؤتمر طاقة العراق لعام 2019 المنعقد في بغداد. وقد ضم المؤتمر الذي استضافته حكومة العراق ووزارة الكهرباء، خبراء من القطاع الحكومي ورجال الأعمال وكبار المختصين في مجال الصناعة لمناقشة التحديات الرئيسية التي تواجه قطاع الكهرباء ولبناء أواصر للمضي قدماً في عجلة المشاريع.

"إن الحصول على الكهرباء على مدار 24 ساعة في اليوم – كل يوم – سيعزز التنويع الاقتصادي للعراق ويخلق الظروف اللازمة للنمو طويل الأمد وخلق فرص عمل جديدة. ويعد هذا المؤتمر مثال على الأهمية التي توليها إدارة رئيس الوزراء عادل عبد المهدي لزيادة إنتاج الغاز الطبيعي والكهرباء. ليس ذلك منطقياً من الناحية الاقتصادية فحسب، بل إنه منطقي أيضاً من منظور جيوسياسي. ينعم العراق وشعبه بموارد طبيعية وفيرة، وإذا كان العراق مستقلاً تماماً في قطاع الطاقة، فهذا سيعزز السيادة العراقية ويجعله شريكاً أقوى وأكثر استقراراً في منطقة الشرق الأوسط".

U.S. ambassador Mr. Tueller provided a keynote speech at the 2019 Powering Iraq conference in Baghdad. Hosted by the Government of Iraq and the Ministry of Electricity, the conference brought together government, business, and leading industry specialists to discuss key challenges facing the electricity sector and to build relationships to move projects forward.

“Access to electricity that is available 24 hours per day — every day — will power Iraq’s economic diversification and create the conditions for long-term growth and new job creation. This conference is an example of the importance that Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi’s administration is placing on increasing natural gas and electricity production. Not only does it makes sense economically, but it also makes sense from a geo-political perspective. Iraq and its people are blessed with abundant natural resources, if Iraq is fully energy independent, this will strengthen Iraqi sovereignty and make it a stronger and more stable partner in the Middle East region.”
